Nov. 28th, 2006 01:08 pm Human Dignity

What is human dignity?

I believe that human dignity cant actually be defined. But to sum it up in some way i would say its something that makes you...you! I believe its all about your views on life and morals and what. It also your judgments on life and the future. I think dignity is the real true value in people.

So i missed the thursday the my dignitas was supposed to watch north country together..so i watched it in a small group the other night. It is such a sad movie at some parts..i cried a lot when i watched it. The movie has a lot of impact on some people and i thought it was a great choice for our class to watch!

Oct. 16th, 2006 07:41 pm social networking

So in my dignitas class, we talked about social networking. I use facebook, myspace, and email to express social networking. These are all a great way to talk to people you dont see very often, to make plans, or just to say a friendly hello. I use myspace to talk to my sister mostly, because now that i'm up at college, i dont get to see or talk to her very often. And i use facebook to talk to my high school friends that are now off to all different colleges. Its a very simple and convenient way to continue to keep a relationship with people you dont see very often.

College has been so fun so far! I really enjoy everything about it. But the most interesting thing is my theatere tech class. In this class we build and paint the sets, set up lighting, and clean up the theatre for the plays. Its very interesting because its different than a normal class setting, because here we are getting a total hands on experience and it makes class extremely fun, interesting and eventful!!!

When I was a kid I was told that the 3 branches of government do the following things.

The legislature writes the law.
The executive office enforces the law.
The judicial branch interprets the law.

Here's how it works now.

The legislature writes the law.
The executive office interprets then enforces the law along the lines of their interpretation.
The judicial branch either supports the interpretation of the executive or is accused of terrorist sympathy.

Recently a judge has declared that the president has broken the law. But is the Bush administration going to cease breaking the law? No. They are allowed to continue in their behavior until a higher court is consulted.

This would seem like an excellent topic to discuss: the need for secrecy in security vs the importance of a free press

(prompted by Denny Hastert's verbal attack on the NY Times and Senator Jim Bunning's suggestion on Fox News that the people responsble for writing and publishing the article on the government's SWIFT program be tried for treason.)

Olá! Chamo-me Stephanie. I was so excited to find this community, because I adore Brazilian pop culture, but I was disappointed that no one's ever written in it. I hope that no one minds if I just go ahead and post.
I'm a huge fan of Brazilian music, discovered the Tribalistas during a study abroad year in Portugal, and the interest expanded from there. I found a copy of Os Mutantes 'Everything is Possible!' a few months ago, and after reading the description on the CD case, I thought, oh, I must own this. They've since climbed high on my list of favorite bands, their music always puts me in a good mood.

was wondering if anyone had any experience with ISV (International Student Volunteers). I am looking into
volunteering and traveling with them next summer and wanted to know if anyone had any experiences to share
(good or bad). Is the cost worth it? Which country did you go to and what projects were you working on? What
was the "adventure travel" like?
